The
SFEE learning process
The
purpose of the learning process is to stimulate teachers to develop
their teaching methods and to increase the students' possibilities
to adjust their learning to their own personal needs and qualifications.
The SFEE business education has three central concepts of methodology:
- Projects
in cooperating companies (mentor companies)
- Case
studies
- Support
by information technology
Projects
The essence of entrepreneurship includes a number of qualities,
attitudes and skills within the individual, some innate, others
to be achieved. Projects in cooperation with "mentor companies"
outside the school is a fundamental idea. The projects aim at finding
solutions to problems. Working with projects involves searching
for ideas, planning various steps and preparing decisions, anticipating
consequences of alternatives, discussing with customers and partners.
To be a bit more precise, it implies communication training, making
decisions, solving problems, negotiation, planning and teamwork.
A
number of projects within the same mentor company over a period
of two years is supposed to give the students a general view of
what gets a company going. The students acquire a frame of reference
as well as contacts with working life and possibly even an experienced
and inspiring mentor. Being able to see the results of one's work
is important and increases the student's motivation and confidence.
Projects provide experiences which will stimulate attitudes important
for adult life such as decisiveness, initiative, responsibility,
endurance etc.
The
projects may include several subjects. The Business Administration
courses offer a number of possibilities to illuminate the relationships
between economy/working life and school subjects such as Civics,
Language, History, Geography, Psychology, Computing, Internationalization
etc. The learning process proposed by the Foundation, makes it easier
to cooperate in joint projects involving teachers in different subjects.
Case
studies
The
business cases supplied by the SFEE cover a wide range of companies
and problems. Studies of these cases are supposed to give the students
a broad view and understanding of the essence of entrepreneurship.
This will make theory more comprehensible and stimulate a continuing
learning process, stretching over a lifetime.
Support
by information technology
SFEE
uses modern information technology to stimulate teachers to develop
their teaching methods and to increase the students' possibilities
of adjusting their learning to their own personal needs and qualifications.
Teachers are supported by learning materials on the SFEE Web-server.
The Web-server also contains suggested curricula for the business
courses and continuing information about the current development
of teaching methods. Part of the material for various courses are
presented in a Student's Dossier which is used together with materials
obtained through the Internet from the Foundation's Web-server.
Cooperation
Cooperation
between the Foundation and schools throughout the country is of
advantage to both sides. Exchange of experiences, continuing professional
education, quality control and development projects are of mutual
interest and the results can quickly be spread around. The Foundation
also tries to make it easier for teachers to keep up with the development
of a rich and varied business world and take advantage of what is
happening in the field of IT. SFEE has programs for continuing professional
education for teachers and exchanges of experience for teachers,
pupils and school administrators.
To
ensure that a high level of quality is maintained, all involved
teachers, students, companies and school administrators must respond
to questionnaires.
